I received and email this morning that made my head turn with the subject line stating that I could increase my conversions by 60% by using a small tool on a websitecalled Shrink My Link.

Basically what this website offers an alernative to the php redirect we all know and love. It takes you product affilate link and redirects it through another url, hiding the affilliate from public view. There are 2 reason why you would want to hide an affiliate link.

1. People seem to shy away from a link that shows up in the tool bar like http://www.yourclickbankid.clickbank.com The user knows right from theget go that this is an affiliate linkand we are going to try and sell them something. Having a cloaking link maybe a bit sneaky, but hey are trying to sell something, but we beleive in this product and we are helping them by telling them about it.

2. Believe it or not, but there are evil people out there. Some criminal minds will get your affiliate link and pinch any sale that comes from it. I still don’t know how they do it, but it happens all the time. So having a cloak on your affiliate links helps stops these online criminals pinching your sales.

As most of you already know, I am always on the lookout for scripts, bits and graphics to make my site easy to make and then easier to manage. And sometimes I come across a gem.

Sometimes you come across these little Web2.0 banners. A lot of webmasters see them everyday, especially as an RSS graphic. But you can use these lettle graphics for almost anything.

I use this graphic on Myspace, were as I use this graphic on my clients websites. You can customise them to use as link images anywere you want. Use your imagination and make them unique.

Now here is the great news! You don’t need any software to make these graphics. It’s all done online and for free. You don’t need to signup for anything either.

Google Adsense when it first came along made many webmasters instant Millionaires.

But a fews years down the road, making millions with Adsense is a pipe dream of most webmasters except a few. With that said, these small targeted ads are still making fortunes for savy webmasters every day.

I have been making great money since 2004 using Google Adsense. On average I make 4 figure a month, with around 12 of my sites optimised with Google Adsense. The most profitable niche has been Finance, with cats coming a close 2nd.

It’s no secret that I have been making a tidy sum with Google Adsense recently. Infact I would be one of a handful I know of in Australia that makes great money with Adsense.

Here is an Google adsense trick that increased my click through rate by 300%.

If you are using a blog most webmasters will wqrap the adsense code with the topics text, like the image below. I used to do it this way because all the guru’s said it was the only way to go.

But, my click through rate was hovering around 3% to 4% and I had heard  of site owners getting a ctr as high as 24%. This site owners were not about to tell me exactly what they were doing but I needed to know how they were doing it, so I checked their sites.

Once you know what your looking at, it sticks out like a dog’s hind leg. These sites did not wrap the Adsense ads with text. They put the topics header first, then the adsense code then under the ad code they put the topic content. Of course they had the code colours right and the ad size spot on, but it was the ads placement that shook me.

It looks bloody ugly this way, but the ctr on my adsense ads are great now. They are not in the 20%+ bracket, but they are certainly higher than 3% to 4% I experienced earlier.

This is the way my adsense ads now look on one of my finance blogs.

So, the point to this trick is? Experiment with you ads placings! And don’t re-invent the wheel, copy what the gurus are doing.

I am a member of a group who quite willingly will share information to other blog owners, in the hope that with this assistance we can all make our online businesses successful.

One of those Guru’s is a guy called Soren Jordansen. Soren is a 28 year old Dane(Denmark) Internet Marketer who’s passion for what he does is inspiring to say the least.

Anyway recently Soren did a survey with his email list about what his people thought about key questions set out in his survey. The results were not surprising, but none the less useful. Here is a small exert of his findings:

How long have you been involved with internet marketing?

6 Months or Less = 22.30%
6 Months to 1 Year = 22.30%
1 to 2 Years = 22.30%
2 to 5 Years = 21.19%
5 Years or More = 12.27%

No real surprise here, the numbers are pretty evenly spread out, and I have seen similar results before. If anything, it shows us that internet marketing is still in its infancy and thousands of new people are joining our ranks each day… I have heard a lot people say that marketing to the “internet marketing niche” is hard, the market is saturated etc. I completely disagree. I think this is the easiest niche to master, especially if you are relatively new to the game… What do you think?

As an Aussie I get so pissed off hearing about our overseas cousins making enormous amount of money online!

That cheque ignited the greedy man inside. I wanted to make that sort of money doing what I love. I love the Internet. Infact I am addicted to the internet and the potential of earning $132,994.97 for just one month’s work turned the way I do business online. I wanted a cheque just like Shoey, I’m and Australian and we can’t just copy what the guru’s do. No way have to be a lot more creative to attract the sorts of traffic needed to make those phone number amounts of money.
