I received and email this morning that made my head turn with the subject line stating that I could increase my conversions by 60% by using a small tool on a websitecalled Shrink My Link.
Basically what this website offers an alernative to the php redirect we all know and love. It takes you product affilate link and redirects it through another url, hiding the affilliate from public view. There are 2 reason why you would want to hide an affiliate link.
1. People seem to shy away from a link that shows up in the tool bar like http://www.yourclickbankid.clickbank.com The user knows right from theget go that this is an affiliate linkand we are going to try and sell them something. Having a cloaking link maybe a bit sneaky, but hey are trying to sell something, but we beleive in this product and we are helping them by telling them about it.
2. Believe it or not, but there are evil people out there. Some criminal minds will get your affiliate link and pinch any sale that comes from it. I still don’t know how they do it, but it happens all the time. So having a cloak on your affiliate links helps stops these online criminals pinching your sales.
The site is called Shrink My Link and it will take your affiliate link and redirect it through there service. thus hiding your link from the crims and secondly it takes a link that may look like http://www.myproductisforsale.andthisisthelink.com/id?affiliate=me and changes it to http://shmyl.com/nuqqson.
