Google Adsense an advertising program which allows Australian webmasters to publish targeted advertisements on their website has been around for quite some time now. It has been a known way to monetize websites, mostly by bloggers and content based websites. Google Adsense ads are mainly text ads that use the powerful algorithm of Google search to carefully match and target ads to the contents of a webpage. Google has recently started including fancy graphical ads into their arsenal as well as video and search.
Basically, Google Adsense simply requires the Australian webmaster to paste in a few lines of HTML code on their web pages where they want the ads to appear. Once the Google Adsense spider has browsed your websites content pages, they can assess what those pages are about and then Google will serve ads that are themed towards the content of each webpage.
The Australian Google Adsense Publisher Network is the program that can give you advertising revenue from each page on your website. All you need to do is create an adsense account and then just copy and paste a block of HTML they provide you and targeted ads will start showing up on your blog or website.
To join the Google Adsense Publisher program go here and register. Google will ask you a number of questions and then evaluate your application and get back to you usually within 48 hours. To help you get accepted by Google I recommend you already have a website before applying and that the niche of your site is compatible with their Adwords Program. For example, Google will not accept Porn, nor will they look favorably at a site that has very little traffic.
Now what do your need to look at to make the most from Google Adsense?
From my own experience I have found that Australian Finance and Medical themed websites will attract the highest paying advertisers. However one of my most profitable websites is related to fishing. So do your research and decide on a niche that best suits your wants. The idea is to have high paying advertisers on your website so that you will receive the highest payout per click. So don’t expect high paying clicks from niches like “making money” or “ringtones”. These niches attract low paying advertisers as the profit these advertisers get for each action is low compared to say a Finance Broker advertising mortgage refinancing.
How to make money from Google Adsense:
- Find a niche that advertisers pay highly per click. A piece of software I use exclusively is Called Keyword Elite. It’s not cheap, but It tells me what keywords are the best paying keywords to optimise my site for and even provides me with what advertisers are actually paying for each click. I have been using Keyword Elite for around 12 months and have paid for it 100 times over.
- Join the Google Adsense Publisher Program. Once accepted login to your account and setup the advert html. Now from my research I have found that placing a 336×280 text advert above your content as close to the top of each page works the best.
Of course there is much more to making money from Google Adsense, but for now this is a fantastic place to start. Google Adsense Publishers in Australia are behind the 8 ball compared to our brothers and sisters in the US, but if your select a great niche and can get heaps of traffic to your site, there is no reason why you too can make money using Google Adsense.
